UM6P Becomes First African University to Deploy ‘ChatGPT’ Edu for AI-Powered Learning
Benguerir – In a significant milestone, Morocco’s Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), through its Digital Ecosystem Office, has rolled out “ChatGPT Edu”, becoming thus the first African university to incorporate this powerful artificial intelligence tool into its academic and operational features.
Powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o tool, ChatGPT Edu is poised to revolutionize education by providing personalized learning and support for administrative efficiency, UM6P points out in a communiqué.
Renowned for its commitment to cutting-edge research and pedagogical innovation, UM6P has long championed the role of digital tools in empowering students and researchers, according to the same source. This collaboration with OpenAI reinforces UM6P’s leadership in adopting AI for game-changing educational outcomes.
As part of this initiative, ChatGPT Edu will be used in several areas within the university, including personalized learning for students: students will be able to participate in tailored tutoring sessions, create personalized AI assistants for their courses, and even prepare for their careers through interactive CV reviews and mock interviews.
This new program will also be used in support for academic staff, enabling professors to benefit from AI to help with marking exam papers, curriculum design and student feedback.
This is set to enhance students’ learning experience with interactive, course-specific GPTs designed to simplify complex subjects, provide advanced research capabilities and grant writing and literature reviews, significantly reducing the time spent on administrative tasks and enabling greater focus on innovation and exploration.
