UNESCO: Mr. Benmoussa participates in the CDHN on the governance of education in the world – Media7

Paris – The Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, took part, Wednesday at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in the work of the High Level Steering Committee (HLSC), whose mission is to operationalize a new mechanism for governance of education in the world and to evaluate the progress made in relation to SDG4 and the transformation of education .
In his speech, the minister recalled the conclusions of the meeting, organized on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, held in Marrakech last October, between the ministers in charge of Education and those of Finance .
Mr. Benmoussa insisted, on this occasion, on the challenges to be met in terms of inclusion, quality and relevance of education and which require significant additional budgets, specifying, for example, that the government of Kingdom has committed, as part of its Roadmap, to increase the budget allocated to education by more than 7% annually on average during the period 2023-2027, and which today represents the equivalent of 5 .6% of GDP and 19% of the General State Budget (BGE), indicates a press release from the ministry.
He also emphasized the importance of channeling the additional funding mobilized towards actions with a strong impact on students, taking into account the fact that the State budget is heavily requested by many other projects and is subject to pressure. strong international constraints.
In this perspective, the minister confirmed that Morocco approves the proposals of the CDHN working group on the mobilization of all stakeholders and the improvement of the governance of international education financing in the sense of an intensification of mechanisms existing financing mechanisms, the active exploration of potential new mechanisms based on the experience of other sectors and the promotion of the collective role of multilateral agencies and funds at the country level.
He also reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to continuing its action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG4, notes the press release, adding that the minister also indicated that Morocco has developed a “Public School Transformation Roadmap 2022-2026”, designed on the basis of inclusive national consultations, thus promoting a global transformation of the national education system, in response to the expectations of Moroccan society for public education quality.
Mr. Benmoussa stressed that this reform plan is based on three major axes, namely the student, with emphasis on the mastery of fundamental knowledge and life skills, the teacher, to strengthen his performance and capacity to ensure transformative learning through the attractiveness of the profession, training, educational tools, working conditions and career prospects, and school, by creating the conditions for welcoming and mobilizing all stakeholders around strategic objectives.
In addition to the Deputy Director-General for Education at UNESCO, the meeting was attended by the ministers responsible for national education and the heads of delegations of the Organization’s Member States, as well as representatives of the organizations international and non-governmental organizations in charge of education.
