Virtual Pharmacies on TikTok Threaten Moroccans

Virtual pharmacies which operate via social networks endanger the health of Moroccans and destabilize the pharmaceutical sector. Abderrahmane El OUAFA, parliamentary advisor to the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), warned of this phenomenon during a recent parliamentary session.

El OUAFA stressed that these online platforms illegally promote medical products, including drugs for chronic diseases, sexual disorders and cosmetic products. These products, often unauthorized, present major risks to public health.

Unfair competition for traditional pharmacies

These illegal networks gain consumer trust by collaborating with pharmacists and doctors in the public and private sector. This practice directly harms traditional pharmacies, which suffer a significant drop in revenue.

The parliamentary advisor specified that this illegal activity, fueled by intensive online advertising, threatens the viability of conventional pharmacies and the stability of the entire Moroccan pharmaceutical sector.

Call for rigorous measures

El OUAFA urged the government to strengthen the application of existing laws and introduce strict sanctions to counter these activities. He insisted on the need to protect the health of citizens and guarantee a fair economic environment for players in the pharmaceutical sector.

This illegal phenomenon underlines the urgency of reinforced regulation of online commerce in Morocco. Authorities are called upon to work closely together to eliminate these practices and preserve the integrity of the national health system.

Virtual pharmacies, while attractive to online consumers, pose a serious danger to public health and the economy. Parliament calls for immediate intervention to limit their growing impact.
