Water levels of dams: Morocco records a high increase in 48 hours

Morocco experienced a significant revival of its water resources thanks to the rains of March 10 and 12, 2025. In just 48 hours, the country’s dams saw their stock increase by 232 million cubic meters, the equivalent of the annual consumption of water in Casablanca.
This increase made it possible to pass the updating rate of the dams from 29.1 % to 30.4 %, a leap of 1.4 points. The total volume of stored water increased from 4.896 billion cubic meters to 5.124 billion.
The most impacted dams are:
The Wahda dam, with an increase of 73.27 million cubic meters, bringing its filling rate from 38.8 % to 40.9 %. The Wadi Al-Makhazn dam, which increased by 42.57 million cubic meters, reaching a rate of 77.3 % (+6.32 %). The Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah Sidi dam, fueling Casablanca and Rabat, with an increase of 25.5 million cubic meters, an filling rate of 46.9 % (+2.6 %).
These improvements are essential to strengthen the country’s water safety. However, the authorities call for more precipitation to maintain this dynamic and meet the needs of the key sectors.
