Weather: A heat wave marks this Saturday in Morocco
Morocco is experiencing a day marked by an unusual heat wave this Saturday, November 30, 2024, particularly affecting the northern and central plains and the Saharan provinces. The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) also forecasts windy conditions and localized cloud formations.
A notable rise in temperatures
Daily temperatures will reach abnormally high levels for the end of November, particularly in the southern and central regions. In Laâyoune, the mercury will rise to 32°C, while Agadir and Essaouira will experience 31°C and 29°C respectively. Minimum temperatures in mountainous areas like the Atlas and high plateaus will drop to 3°C.
Houcine Youaabed, head of the communications division at the DGM, attributed this situation to the persistent influence of the Azores anticyclone, which propels hot air masses towards Morocco.
Specific weather conditions
Low clouds accompanied by drizzle are expected over the western Mediterranean. The peaks of the High Atlas will see cumuliform clouds, while passages of high altitude clouds will cover the Rif and the northern and central plains. In the Saharan provinces, gusts of wind associated with dust blowers could reduce visibility.
On the maritime level, the sea will be beautiful to slightly rough in the Mediterranean, rough to rough between Larache and Cap Hadid, and between Dakhla and Lagouira. Mariners are urged to be vigilant.

Towards a gradual decline from Sunday
Houcine Youaabed, head of the communications division at the DGM, explained that this heat wave results from the distribution of atmospheric pressures influenced by the Azores anticyclone. However, he said a gradual return to more seasonal temperatures is expected from Sunday, providing a respite from these exceptionally hot days.
In conclusion, this day promises to be marked by unusual heat for the end of November, with winds and cloud formations adding to the diversity of climatic conditions. Citizens are invited to stay informed and take the necessary precautions against winds and dust in the Saharan regions.
