Weather Alert in Morocco: Exceptional Heat Wave Expected in These Cities

A weather alert issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology predicts a heat wave with temperatures reaching between 34 and 39 degrees Celsius from Thursday to Saturday in several regions of the kingdom.

In an orange level alert bulletin, the Directorate indicated that temperatures ranging from 34 to 39 degrees are expected from Thursday to Saturday in the prefectures and provinces of Fquih Ben Salah, Béni Mellal, Settat, Kelaat Sraghna, Marrakech, Azilal , El Haouz, Youssoufia, Chichaoua, Taroudant, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, Sidi Ifni, Assa-Zag, Tarfaya, Laâyoune, Boujdour, Smara, Oued Ed-Dahab and Aousserd.

In addition, temperatures ranging from 34 to 39 degrees are forecast for Friday in the prefectures of Kénitra, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Skhirat-Témara, Témara, Khemisset, Salé, Rabat, El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, Nouaceur, Mohammedia, Mediouna , Benslimane, Berrechid, Casablanca, Safi, Essaouira, Chichaoua, Agadir, Inezgane, Aït Melloul and Tiznit.

According to the same bulletin, temperatures ranging from 34 to 38 degrees are forecast for Friday and Saturday in the prefectures and provinces of Oujda-Angad, Berkane, Driouch, Nador, Taourirt and Guercif.

Residents in areas affected by the heat wave are recommended to take necessary precautions to cope with rising temperatures, such as drinking enough water, wearing light, breathable clothing, and avoiding direct exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day.
