Weather: Cold, strong winds and swell expected this Sunday in Morocco

The General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts for this Sunday a weather marked by varied weather conditions across Morocco. Relatively cold temperatures are expected during the morning and night, particularly in the mountainous regions of the Atlas, Rif and Oriental.

Formation of fog and low clouds

Fog banks, associated with dense low clouds, will be present at the start of the day and during the night over the northern and central Atlantic plains as well as to the northwest of the Saharan provinces. In the north of the Oriental, clouds could cause light precipitation.

Winds and dust particles

Moderate to strong wind gusts will sweep the central coasts and the far south of the country, causing dust in places.

Evolution of temperatures

Minimum temperatures will vary between 02 and 07°C in the Atlas Mountains, the Rif and the Oriental highlands. They will reach between 13 and 17°C in the south and the Souss region, and will oscillate between 08 and 14°C in the rest of the country. The maximum temperatures of the day will show a notable drop in northern regions.

Sea State

The sea will be slightly rough to rough in the Mediterranean, calm to slightly rough in the Strait of Gibraltar. On the Atlantic, it will be rough to strongly rough between Mehdia and Cap Ghir, becoming even rougher between Cap Ghir and Tan-Tan during the night.

With these contrasting weather conditions, caution is required, particularly in regions exposed to winds and strong swells.
