Automobile: exports increased by 30.5% at the end of October (Foreign Exchange Office) – Media7

Sales in the automotive sector stood at nearly 116.38 billion dirhams (billion dirhams) at the end of October 2023, up 30.5% compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the Foreign Exchange Office.

This development is due to the increase in sales in the construction segment (+10.87 billion dirhams), that of cabling (+9.64 billion dirhams) and that of vehicle and seat interiors (+1.91 billion dirhams), indicates the Office which has just published its monthly indicators of foreign trade.

Likewise, sales in the electronics and electricity sector increase by 28.4%, reaching MAD 19.33 billion at the end of October 2023 compared to MAD 15.05 billion at the end of October 2022.

Furthermore, exports of the textile and leather sector increased by 5.5% (+2.07 billion dirhams) thanks to the increase in sales of ready-made clothing (+1.68 billion dirhams) and hosiery (+1.68 billion dirhams) 446 million dirhams (MDH)). Sales of shoes, for their part, fell by 3.9% (-113 MDH).

Regarding sales in the agriculture and agri-food sector, these show a slight decline at the end of October 2023, following the joint drop in sales from agriculture, forestry and hunting (-486 MDH) and the food industry (-401 MDH).

At the same time, sales of other mining fell slightly by 2.2% (-102 billion dirhams), while exports from the aeronautics sector recorded virtual stability at 17.65 billion dirhams.

Exports of phosphates and derivatives showed a decline, reaching 57.62 billion dirhams at the end of October 2023 (101.79 billion dirhams at the end of October 2022). This decline concerns sales of natural and chemical fertilizers (-41.1%), phosphoric acid (-46.4%) and phosphates (-51.8%).
