London – Chefchaouen, the blue pearl of Morocco, is taking advantage of its popularity on social networks to evolve from a once hidden gem to a popular tourist spot, “among the best in the world”, writes the British daily “Daily Express”.
Situated high in the Rif Mountains, the city’s blue buildings give it a uniform appearance so photogenic that many travel bloggers and Instagram users have taken a liking to the eccentric spot, the newspaper describes in an article. under the title “the beautiful city among the best in the world where almost all the houses are painted blue”.
Considered a predominantly rural region, Chefchaouen was previously a magnet for backpackers, but travel reviews now say its popularity is starting to soar with more mainstream tourists, notes the big draw.
“The superb blue backdrop, which descends from the mountain and crosses the streets, makes many travelers want to fully immerse themselves in this heavenly atmosphere,” adds the “Daily Express”.
”The blue streets of the medina are home to small, authentic shops where you can stroll around. From brightly colored pottery to rugs and goat cheese, authenticity is there in this sea of blue,” the publication maintains.
The main square, called Plaza Uta El-Hammam, brings together several restaurants, a large number of shops, the Great Mosque and the Kasbah Museum, details the media, emphasizing that “people who have already been to this blue part of the world have praised its authenticity.”
