Rabat – Means of strengthening cooperation between Morocco and Egypt in the field of civil aviation were at the center of a working meeting, Monday in Cairo, between the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil and the Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation, Mohamed Abbas Helmy Hachem.
During this meeting, held on the sidelines of the 5th edition of the Transport and Logistics Forum and Exhibition in Africa and the Middle East (TransMEA 2023), the two parties praised the excellence of the bonds of fraternity and cooperation uniting Morocco and Egypt, indicates a press release from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, noting that this meeting also constituted an opportunity to review the areas of competence of the two ministries, particularly with regard to the transport sector. ‘civil Aviation.
The two parties expressed on this occasion their desire to strengthen the air connection between the two countries by opening new lines between the cities of the two countries, adds the same source, noting that they also agreed to develop a tool aimed at put in place the necessary means to strengthen bilateral technical cooperation, through the creation of a working group led by the secretaries general of the two departments and composed of the sectors concerned by civil aviation, namely, airports, airlines , leaders and officials of civil aviation of the two countries.
The two ministers also agreed to strengthen the exchange of visits in order to mutually benefit from the experiences and expertise of the two countries in the field of civil aviation.
According to the same source, they also called for strengthening mutual support at the level of international organizations, particularly at the level of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO). , as well as the unification of visions and efforts with a view to developing the civil aviation sector in the two countries.
Furthermore, Mr. Abdeljalil held a meeting with senior officials of the Egyptian General Authority for Roads and Bridges, around the subject of road safety, in which Egypt has achieved great performances and a very important international ranking , by reducing the number of deaths and injuries on Egyptian roads, continues the press release, specifying that this meeting follows the request of the Moroccan side, which wishes to learn about the Egyptian experience in this area, to understand its success factors and plans to benefit from this experience in Morocco, particularly in terms of management of this file with a view to achieving the set objectives.
At the same time, the director of the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) and his Egyptian counterpart discussed ways to develop a technical framework for cooperation in the field of road safety.
Alongside this meeting, Mr. Abdeljalil also visited some sites related to road safety and learned about the Egyptian experience in this area.
The minister visited the “Adli Mansour” central interchange station in the Cairo region, a multimodal station that integrates rail, urban rail, tram and bus transport modes, where he was briefed on the operation of the latter , considered one of the latest generation mobility stations, equipped to facilitate travel within the city of Cairo and its suburbs.
Then, the minister went to the main railway station in Cairo, where he learned about its operation, its management and its history, said the same source, adding that Mr. Abdeljalil also carried out a visit to the Egyptian railway museum.
Morocco is represented at the TransMEA-2023 Exhibition, which continues until November 8, by a high-level delegation led by the Minister of Transport and Logistics and composed of senior officials from the ministry and Public Establishments and Enterprises under supervision .
