Heartbreak and Pride: Mourinho Reflects on Roma’s Loss in Europa League Final

Following Roma’s heartbreaking loss against Sevilla in Budapest, Jose Mourinho, the manager of Roma, shared his thoughts on the match.

During his post-match interview with Sky Sport, Mourinho expressed, “Tonight, we succumbed to mental and physical exhaustion. There were numerous incidents worth discussing. Despite not having the trophy in our hands, we are fatigued yet proud.”

“Defeat is a possibility in any game, but one should never lose their professionalism. I have won five finals and lost this one, yet tonight I am filled with more pride than ever before. The players gave their everything.”

“The truth is, we are all deeply saddened, regardless of shedding tears or not. We will return home drained, both physically and emotionally, due to tonight’s unjust refereeing decisions.”

“It was a remarkable game, an extraordinary final, filled with intensity, determination, and excitement. However, it appeared as if the referee favored the Spanish side. Our team received too many yellow cards, while he failed to issue a second yellow card to Lamela, ultimately allowing him to take the decisive penalty.”

“As for my future, I am committed to transparency. A few months ago, I stated that if any other club approached me, I would inform Roma’s ownership openly. In December, when Portugal inquired about my availability, I engaged in discussions with the club. As of now, I have not had any conversations with other teams.”

“Objectively speaking, I cannot definitively state that I will stay. I have a one-year contract remaining with Roma, and the situation is clear.”
