Partnership between the Ministry of National Education and Orange Maroc: 100,000 students introduced to Coding – Media7

Nearly 100,000 students were able to discover programming thanks to Scratch as part of the partnership between the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports and Orange Maroc with a view to transforming the digital educational landscape in Morocco.

Thus, during the 2023-2024 school year, online training was provided to 1,500 teachers, allowing 50,000 students to discover Scratch, specifies a joint press release from the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports , and Orange Maroc.

The same source specifies that 12 regional hackathons were also organized between April and June by the Regional Education and Training Academies (AREF), with the participation of volunteers from Orange Morocco and coaches from Happy Coder Academy, who had previously ensured online training.

These events brought together students representing all provincial directorates, aiming to select the pair representing each AREF at the national Hackathon.

Through this partnership, initiated in 2018, Orange Morocco wishes to confirm its continued commitment to digital inclusion, the stimulation of innovation and its contribution to the democratization of access to new technologies for all.

And to recall that the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, and the General Director of Orange Morocco, Hendrik Kasteel, attended the national Hackakthon at the Orange Digital Center, which highlighted challenge 12 representative teams from each region in order to select the winning team by the jury.

“The “Super Codeur” project, with the mission of supporting the use of new technologies by students, aims to ensure equal access to these technologies for the school population, thus contributing to the social and cognitive development of the beneficiary students. ”, notes the same source.

This initiative is in line with the 2022-2026 roadmap for a quality public school, supported by the Ministry of National Education and is positioned as a crucial pillar for digital education in Morocco, the objective being to continue this ambitious partnership by targeting 50,000 additional students for the 2024-2025 school year, while maintaining the organization of regional hackathons and the national hackathon.

This initiative continues to create a dynamic within schools, allowing students to collaborate on different themes, work in teams and publicly present their projects, the press release concludes.
