Why is Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE delayed?

Brock Lesnar is one of the most prominent and successful professional wrestlers of all time, currently under contract with WWE. Since SummerSlam 2023, Lesnar has been on an extended break. It was previously announced that he would return to WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble to compete in the men’s Royal Rumble match.

Brock Lesnar and the Ongoing Legal Case

However, Lesnar was removed from the match and replaced by Bron Breakker following Miss Janel Grant filing a sex trafficking complaint against Vince McMahon. Although Lesnar was not mentioned directly, the Wall Street Journal revealed that his name appeared in the plaintiff’s documents. This upended Lesnar’s plans for WrestleMania 40 and resulted in several changes to the promotion and match card for shows on the road to WrestleMania. Lesnar was also removed from the WWE 2K24 games and was no longer mentioned on television. However, no information about his return was available until now. A backstage report brought a major update on Lesnar’s return status to WWE.

Update on Brock Lesnar’s Return to WWE

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Brock Lesnar will not return to WWE until he is cleared by WWE’s legal team. The report recalls that the company is still a defendant in Miss Janel Grant’s trial and that no conclusion has been reached to date.

Dave Meltzer wrote:

“Regarding the rumors about Lesnar’s return, it needs to be approved by the WWE legal team (remember WWE is still a defendant in the Janel Grant lawsuit) and that has not been done yet. »

No Imminent Return for Brock Lesnar

Earlier this week, Ringside News reported that they had heard from sources inside WWE that the lifting of the ban on mentioning Brock Lesnar’s name did not mean he would return anytime soon. Sources have indicated no signs of an imminent Lesnar return.

“Despite #WWE lifting its ban on mentioning Brock Lesnar’s name in their programming, sources tell @RingsideNews_ there is no indication he will return to the company anytime soon. »

Triple H and the Hope of a Return of Brock Lesnar

However, during the WrestleMania XL press conference, WWE CCO Triple H hinted that Lesnar was not completely out of WWE, hinting at a possible return.

“For now, Brock is at home being Brock, and we’ll see where it takes us from there. The status is the same as before. Brock isn’t gone from WWE, he’s just at home being Brock. »

In summary, although Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE is currently on hold due to legal complications, the doors are not completely closed. Fans will have to wait until the legal issues are resolved before seeing “The Beast” in the ring again.
