Marrakech: Artistic evening dedicated to patriotic songs and the art of melhoune

Marrakech – The Sebaâtou Rijal Association (Seven Apostles) for the art of Melhoune and Moroccan heritage organized, Friday at the Social Complex Maison de l’Enfant “Dar Attifl” in Marrakech, an artistic evening marking the kick-off of its artistic and cultural season.

This event, organized on the occasion of the celebration of the anniversary of the Glorious Green March and Independence Day, was marked by the presentation by the association’s musical troupe, led by Ahmed El Gnawi, a panoply of poems with a national patriotic vocation, as well as extracts from the centuries-old art of melhoune.

In a statement to MAP, the president of the Association of the Seven Apostles for the art of Melhoune and Moroccan heritage, Khalid Ould Rami, indicated that since its creation in 2007, the association has organized a series of activities aimed to promote Melhoune, this Moroccan intangible heritage recognized by UNESCO, and also works to publish poetic collections, particularly by Marrakesh poets.

And to add that the activities programmed by the association throughout the year are likely to make known the great masters of Melhoune, the artists, musicians and singers, as well as the poets of this ancestral art, notably through the organization of seminars and artistic and cultural meetings in Marrakech, but also in several cities including Meknes, Rabat, Zerhoun and Taroudant.

The Association, continues Mr. Ould Rami, also works to promote its activities and to make this musical genre known to young people and adolescents, all social fringes combined, to explore talents and promising voices and to develop their performances. artistic. The aim being to prepare the standard bearers of this art for the future.

For his part, the director of the Maison de l’Enfant Social Complex, Bab Ghmat, in Marrakech, Aziz Addi, noted that the Complex, which is celebrating its 88th anniversary this year, organizes, alongside educational or training activities, artistic activities and initiatives for the benefit of civil society associations in Marrakech.

“The artistic evening organized today within this establishment constitutes an opportunity to introduce young people to the art of Melhoune and to allow them to open up to this Moroccan heritage which requires more attention with a view to its preservation ”, he said in conclusion.
