Road Tragedy in Azilal: Ten Dead and Twelve Injured

In a tragic event yesterday, a road accident in Azilal claimed the lives of ten people and left twelve others injured, some of them in critical condition. The accident occurred on the regional road near “Douar Imentlat”, in the Azilal region, where a mixed transport vehicle skidded on a bend, leading to a fall into a ravine.

The victims, mostly women, also included a girl under three years old and four teachers. The Minister of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, expressed his condolences to the families affected by this tragedy, highlighting the impact on the educational community.

An investigation was opened by the royal gendarmerie to determine the exact causes of the accident. Initial reports suggest a failure in the vehicle’s braking system, highlighting the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and driver vigilance.

This incident highlights the continuing road safety challenges in Morocco, with a 7% increase in the number of accidents compared to the previous year. Authorities are called upon to take rigorous preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future, including by strengthening road safety and raising public awareness.
